New ways to be involved with art! May 31 2017, 0 Comments
I'm always exploring new ways to be able to focus more on creating...
The more consistently stable my art can be, the more I'll be able to fund and create special projects and develop other initiatives I have, like my give back program, Take Action For Good (TAG)
If you would like to buy me a paintbrush, be a part of my creative journey or fund a project read more about it here: Current Projects.
Art is a celebration of life!
New Encaustics - In the Studio January 19 2013, 0 Comments
New encaustic works in progress... lined up on tables in the studio (other works on the walls are my acrylics).
These each have several coats of encaustic gesso , then two layers of beeswax and resin, and now... I'm ready to paint!
As each one is completed, I'll post it here and on my Facebook Page.
Then they'll go on to my space at the Celebration of Fine Art.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments on them!
Progress on the Poppies July 04 2012, 0 Comments
Happy Fourth of July!
Here's an update of my poppy painting - started here - still working.
It's hard to tell from these pictures, but the paint is thick swirls for the black and red.
Starting to fuss - time to put it aside for a few days...
Poppies In Progress - Painting June 27 2012, 0 Comments
"I don't do poppies." I said to them, these new fans of my work. Once said, that statement began to fester and refused to go away - so, I begin - a new painting and a new subject, flowers... poppies.
Just to do it and get it out there, to try something new to me - done everywhere, but never before in my studio.
So, here goes, I'll show you a few snaps and bring you on the journey:
Poppies in progress
Launched with a little word rhythm too.. why not?
Scarlet poppy red, orange
Bobbing head thrust in view,
In full sun they wave and bend
As if each flower and petal new.
No care, no stress, simply beauty bright
Rising out of whiskered pods
When glint of sun is gone, and night
Each, barely held high on bending rods.
Why then is the artist pulled to paint
To encase the vibrant life within
Repeat the beauty, each his own
Splash it here, and there, jump in.
Roll and play, and then again
As if in fields alone that day
Wandering, touching, reeling in
Inviting life, all else at bay.
